Passenger plates, 1991 pattern

Axxnn series:

1991_ACS96 1991_ANK53

Yukon issued the Axxnn series of passenger plates starting in 1991 as the first series of the current plate design.

Numbering:

  • xx excludes letter I (easily confused with number 1), letter Q (easily confused with letter O and number 0), and letter Y (easily confused with letter V) but includes letter O (easily confused with number 0).
  • nn includes 0199.

Variations:

  • no space between letters and digits
  • half space between letters and digits

Bxxnn series:

1991_BAN54 1991_BOS99

Yukon issued the Bxxnn series concurrent with the Axxnn series and possibly overlapping the later Exxnn series. The BTCnn series (e.g., BTC38 below) was issued in 2015 concurrent with the middle of the Hxxnn series.

Numbering:

  • xx excludes letter I (easily confused with number 1), letter Q (easily confused with letter O and number 0), and letter Y (easily confused with letter V) but includes letter O (easily confused with number 0).
  • nn includes 0199.

Variations:

  • half space between letters and digits
  • no space between letters and digits, smaller font size on both plate number and "The Klondike"

Exxnn series:

Yukon issued the Exxnn series starting in the late 1990s before supply of the Bxxnn series had been exhausted.

Numbering:

  • xx excludes letters I, O, Q, and Y.
  • nn includes 0199.

Variations:

  • thin taller font, EAA01–ECZ99 (maybe EAA01–EDZ99; TBC) and ELA01–EZZ99
  • thick shorter font EDA01–EKZ99 (maybe EEA01–EKZ99; TBC)

Hxxnn series:

1991_HCD80 1991_HKE62

The Hxxnn series started appearing early in 2011 and progressed much more quickly than the preceding passenger plate series. HNxnn plates (halfway through the series) started appearing five years later in early 2016 with HSxnn in early 2017 and HTxnn in Aug 2017.

Numbering:

  • xx excludes letters I, O, Q, and Y.
  • nn includes 0199.

Variations:

  • thin font, HAA01–HGZ99, manufactured by Astrographic Industries
  • thick font HHA01–, manufactured by Waldale Irwin Hodson Group

Examples:

1991_HER05 Sometimes the digit 0 can be confused with the letter O. This one is actually HER zero five, not HERO 5.
