Passenger plates, 1991 pattern
Axxnn series:
Yukon issued the Axxnn series of passenger plates starting in 1991 as the first series of the current plate design.
Numbering:
- xx excludes letter D (easily confused with letter O and digit 0), I (easily confused with number 1), letter Q (easily confused with letter O and digit 0), letter U, and letter Y (easily confused with letter V) but includes letter O (easily confused with digit 0).
- nn includes 01–99.
Variations:
- no space between letters and digits
- half space between letters and digits
- no space between letters and digits, heavy font, smaller The Klondike (latter half of AXx and all of AZx)
Examples:
Bxxnn series:
Yukon issued the Bxxnn series concurrent with the Axxnn series and possibly overlapping the later Exxnn series. The BTC01–BTC50 series (e.g., BTC38 below) was issued in 2015 concurrent with the middle of the Hxxnn series, maybe a mislaid box of plates found in 2015.
Numbering:
- xx excludes letter D (easily confused with letter O and digit 0), letter I (easily confused with number 1), letter Q (easily confused with letter O and digit 0), letter U, and letter Y (easily confused with letter V) but includes letter O (easily confused with digit 0).
- nn includes 01–99.
Variations:
- half space between letters and digits
- no space between letters and digits, smaller font size on both plate number and The Klondike
Examples:
Exxnn series:
Yukon issued the Exxnn series starting in the late 1990s before supply of the Bxxnn series had been exhausted.
Numbering:
- xx excludes letters D, I, O, Q, U, and Y.
- nn includes 01–99.
Variations:
- thin taller font, EAA01–ECZ99
- thick shorter font, EEA01–EKZ99
Hxxnn series:
The Hxxnn series started appearing early in 2011 and progressed much more quickly than the preceding passenger plate series. HNxnn plates (halfway through the series) started appearing five years later in early 2016 with HSxnn in early 2017, HTxnn in Aug 2017, HVxnn in Dec 2017, HWxnn about Apr 2018, and HXxnn in Sep 2018.
Numbering:
- xx excludes letters I, O, Q, U, and Y.
- nn includes 01–99.
Variations:
- thin font, HAA01–HGZ99, manufactured by Astrographic Industries
- thick font HHA01–, manufactured by Waldale Irwin Hodson Group
